The Prescott Police Department was one of the first in Yavapai County and a leader in the state to apply for accreditation and complete all necessary steps to be commissioned as an accredited agency by the ALEAP Commission and the AACOP Board of Directors. Key benefits of achieving accreditation are:

Crime Prevention
One of the Prescott Police Department’s goals is to enhance the quality of life in the city of Prescott. We do this by working cooperatively with the public to prevent crime, enforce the law, and preserve the peace. We provide a safe environment through professional education programs aimed at promoting community involvement in crime prevention.
Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it.
The Police Department wants you to be safe and comfortable in your home and during your daily activities, whether at leisure or at work.
Although the department works very hard to create the safest environment possible, it is very important to remember that all citizens play a vital part in crime prevention.
Crime prevention is truly a police-community partnership. By working together, we can reduce crime and enhance the quality of life.
Interim Chief of Police
Interim Chief of Police Jon Brambila, as of July 2026, began his career with the Prescott Police Department in 1999. He rose through the ranks and promoted to Deputy Chief in October of 2021. During his career he has served as a Lieutenant in all three Bureaus and as Director of the Prescott Regional Communications Center. During his career he spent over 15 years on the department Special Weapons and Tactics Team serving as an operator up to the Team Commander and proudly served as the Class Sergeant and Class Commander for the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy. He is the recipient of several department awards to include Officer of the Year, Top Shooter and Physical Fitness as well as other community awards.
Interim Police Chief Brambila has been involved in local youth sports for two decades having been a volunteer coach for Prescott YMCA basketball, Prescott Little League, AYSO, Yavapai Soccer, Prescott Mile High Middle School, Prescott High Schol, Bradshaw Mountain High Middle School and the Amateur Athletic Union. He is the Vice President of the Arizona Tactical Officer’s Association and a member of the Prescott High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
Interim Police Chief Brambila holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a graduate of the 270th class of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
